Waterfall / Shamefully Sneaking Slithers (Vignette)

In Character Date & Time: 13th November UUY 1, approximately 9-10 PM

Set after Part II - Fighting For Freedom

Hiss was slowly dragging his long body through Waterfall, murmuring insults at himself for sneaking away tonight after what happened in Hotland at the Core. It wasn't an easy feeling to describe; he just felt as if his fear took over, and forced himself to run away once an opening was available. Not to mention that he never was much help in the first place. He kept thinking of all the things he could have done to help them, only to chicken out when he had his chance.

He tried so hard to leave a good impression on everyone, but now he felt too embarrassed to even show his own face. His blood red scales were currently invisible, as he didn't want anyone to find him. He could already picture everyone scowling nasty looks at him for running away, yelling at him that he was a coward, along with other vicious insults directed at him. The thoughts kept flowing through his mind, and he needed to just hide away from everyone for now. After all, hiding from the world seemed to be what he did best.

He sighed as he curled up onto a rock as his eyes slowly started to close. He just needed to rest for now. Sleep off all of this shame, and try to make things right. It sounded so simple at first, but honestly, Hiss knew that was easier said than done. The thoughts started to crowd his mind about what he could do to resolve this. He shook his head lightly. He decided that it would be best to rest first to clear his head.

Maybe people wouldn't recognize his face? Maybe they wouldn't remember...maybe they would forget. He kept whispering these sweet lies to himself as he slowly started to drift off to sleep.

After a few moments, Hiss slowly managed to come to his senses. However, he then heard June call out for Sans to get everyone out of here, which made him turn his attention towards her. Something was clearly wrong, and Hiss didn't like it. Being held close by Haruno so suddenly made him let out a very small yelp in surprise.

His uneasiness turned into fear when he heard Sans say that he couldn't warp everyone away. "W-W-W-WHAT!?" He stuttered in shock on hearing this. When he saw the bull coming towards everyone, the reality of becoming dusted was quickly becoming more and more plausible.

Seeing the rail gun fire at Sans did not help his fears at all. He squeezed his eyes tightly in fear as his body started to turn more and more invisible, yet when he heard the quirky remark Sans made, he felt relieved for a brief second, only to open his eyes and realize that the beam was still chasing after Sans.

Everything was happening too quickly for Hiss to keep his eye on, but the sight of seeing Undyne's own arm turn to dust was the most shocking thing for him. He was stunned in fear and utter shock at this scene. Yet he snapped to his senses when he heard the voice of Papyrus from the skull that appeared next to him.

He gave a nod towards the skull, "I'll do my best...." He said, a bit anxious if this plan would work or not. However, there was no time to question it. His body began to slither around Haruno, his scales started to shimmer, as well as Haruno's body. Eventually, the two were both completely transparent. "Alright....let's hope this ends well...."

Upon hearing the story of June, Hiss felt a sorrowful feeling deep down. She had such a powerful bond with her family. It was...rather hurtful to remember that he had no one like that. Then came the recordings from J.O.H.N., making his soul start to ache as tears started to flow down his scaled face. He was near Undyne, so he managed to overhear Papyrus's story from one of the blasters.

At this point, his face was littered with tears. The sincerity of wanting to keep someone close to them was too much for him to handle, along with the story of Papyrus to add. They all had someone to call family. They all had...someone important to them. Hiss didn't have that. He didn't know who his parents were. He didn't have any siblings. He didn't have anyone. Seeing that Cherry even seemed to go towards Gust increased the weariness of his
soul, their strong bond to one another, it made him feel his soul squeeze in his chest, wanting to know what it was like to have someone to care for you. Not to mention the bond shown between Papyrus and Sans.

He forced himself to speak up past all of his tears, even if his voice wouldn't be heard with his quiet and sobbing tone, he spoke, "What....what is it like....to have parents?...To have a brother?....To have someone who cares about you? What....What is it like to have a family?" He didn't ask that question to anyone in particular, in fact, he didn't expect anyone to answer at all. At this rate, he wouldn't be surprised if no one even heard his soft voice at all. His body slowly began to turn transparent once again as his face became a mess of tears.

Hiss slowly slithered over towards Geneva, he decided that if things started to truly get out of hand, he would try to help her turn invisible along with himself. He whispered slowly towards the other serpent-like monster. "Hey, I think I have a bit of an idea in case things go wrong...I can turn us both invisible, but I'm only going to do this if things go wrong...." He whispered softly to her, trying to not be heard by June or any of the E.D. units.

Hiss paused for a few moments as he heard the voice echo in his head, saying that she has to be locked away. The voice wasn't wrong. Humans were very dangerous. However....they couldn't ALL be evil, could they? Sure, there are some bad ones, but....he just couldn't look at June and think that she was a 'bad' human. She seemed to have something glinting in her eyes that screamed heroism in his opinion. He desperately wanted to go up to her; but he knew that would truly end in everything papyrus was working towards be wasted, a scenario that Hiss desperately did not want to occur.

Upon hearing Papyrus explain to the group that she was just like everyone here...Hiss couldn't help but feel sympathy upon hearing the words 'Scared and alone.' He was always alone during his life, and scared of everyone. His eyes looked back up at June, imagining himself in her place. He didn't want to capture her anymore. He remembered the words from the blacksmith known as Cobalt ring through his head, making him truly wonder if it was a good idea to go to the surface. He knew that he certainly wasn't willing to kill any humans just to see the surface.

Upon hearing the suggestion from Zydras, Hiss thought for a few moments,"Well....I could do that, but the question is which monster should I cloak in my invisibility?" He thought for a few moments, doing the math in his head,"I could possibly cloak either two small monsters, a small monster with a medium monster, or just one large monster...." He said, "Albiet it would be easiest to just cloak one monster, else it would be difficult to move around......" Well, to be fair, it wouldn't be easy to move while cloaking regardless, but it isn't really a 'the more the merrier' scenario, that was for certain.

Hiss often visited Hotlands, as it usually helped him warm up. However, he's never been this close to the core, and he's never experienced this much heat at once. His cold blooded nature made him feel extremely overheated as he tried to desperately stay close to everyone. Upon seeing the soul, his eyes widened a bit. He's never seen one before, and seeing one now was a wondrous thing to behold. He was captivated by the beautiful look of the soul, even up to the point of ignore the overwhelming amounts of heat. "She's....She's so beautiful...." He said in a low voice.

It took him a few extra moments to process what was happening, however, he was rather shocked to see what happened with the railgun almost hitting everyone, but instead only hit Haruno thanks to sans and papyrus. He was relieved to see that she was alright for the most part, however. However, what also got his attention was what June said about Undyne. He whispered to the armored fish woman and asked,"Um...is there a certain reason in particular why she's upset at you?" He asked a bit uneasily.

He clenched his teeth as his body started to turn transparent when he heard the sudden high pitch sound of Papyrus's soul screaming, he couldn't efficiently cover his ears to stop the screeching noise due to the fact he had no hands, which made it especially painful for him. He was relieved when the screaming stopped though, and he looked back over at the yellow soul.

He didn't want to fight June. He knew that she must have been rather scared and frightened deep down, as he's felt that way as well. He wanted to talk to her, but upon seeing Papyrus make a bone wall to separate everyone from June, a small frown sat upon his face once again. However, he knew this was their best option. If too many monsters tried talking up to her at once, it would likely end up in a disaster. And if anyone could convince her to not hurt anyone, it was Papyrus.

He felt rather relieved to feel the sudden heat resistance ward that Papyrus casted, making him sigh in relief to feel a bit cooler now.

Hiss was rather alerted upon hearing the loud alarms made by the mechanical birds, especially since one was right on top of his head. He tensed up, leading his skin to turn invisible. Upon feeling yet another quake, he felt uneasy as it was even harder to keep his balance this time. Without a single moment to waste, he quickly followed undyne's lead, staying close to her as him and the other monsters escaped the tunnel. However...he started to become more and more visible as the pulse struck once more, as usually he would have been nearly impossible to see in his current state.

Hiss wasn't sure what the avian was supposed to be, as he's never seen a bird before. He leaned his long neck closer with curiosity, albeit his eyes showed that he was getting in a bit of a 'carnivorous trance' as he felt this sudden urge to lunge at the small bird. This urge thankfully ended when the scientist picked up the small machine. His eyes widened when he saw what he at first thought would be millions of little machines, especially when he saw one try to land on him, making him squint his eyes shut for a brief moment as he tried to stand his ground, the fight or flight response growing strong, but upon feeling the harmless little 'peck!', it came to his realization that the little birds couldn't really do much to him.

Albeit, he let out a small noise of surprise as he heard one become destroyed, making him turn transparent once again.

Hiss stayed close to Papyrus, making sure to have his back in case anything was to go wrong. He was rather surprised to feel yet another pulse, but knew that it was best to get used to that for the time being. He wanted to try and prove himself to be useful one way or another, yet as for now, the best thing he could do was stay close to the others. His eyes opened up a bit when he heard the scuttling, as he tried to stay on alert. His body turned less and less visible by the second, he knew that he could likely go inside and check what was there, but it felt wiser to wait for the orders of others and act as a reliable backup in case they needed it.

Hiss felt a bit of shock once he heard Cobalt's remarks, and even more so when he saw the vicious fight rage on. He felt himself slither backwards a couple feet, making sure that he wouldn't get harmed by anyone in the ferocious battle. To be completely honest, he wanted to side with Sans and help return the soul, but he knew that it would be best not to speak at the moment, there was enough fighting here, and he didn't want to become a part of that brawl.

However, when the tall skeleton suddenly showed this deadly skill of power, this is when Hiss's uneasiness turned into fear. He lowered his quivering head down as his entire body turned invisible, wanting all of their terrible fighting to stop.

Upon hearing that he needed to get some more information about his abilities, he tried to come up with moments in his past that he's had to do any sort of combat, or at least any kind of healing that would assist the people around him. But nothing came to mind. He did lack experience, which may bite him in the tail later, but he did have some rather aggressive abilities. "Well.....I do possess a great amount of stealth..... After all, I can turn invisible." Said the giant snake. While he didn't really have any experience in battle, his size alone did show that he could be a rather intimidating monster.

Upon hearing all of this, Hiss slowly peaked his head out of the crowd, "I....I'm willing to help....." The rather large snake said as he appeared out of the crowd, slowly raising his head up. His golden eyes looked at Undyne, hoping that he could aid her. "Just tell me what I need to do, and I'll see what I can get done."

Hiss's eyes widened at the sudden rumbling. He felt himself coiling in response, along with doing enough force to crush the seat he was 'sitting' on. He felt an ongoing sense of terror and confusion as he tried to stay as low to the ground as possible. He didn't know what to do, everything was happening so fast; everyone seemed to be trying to help support the building around them. He noticed the girl known as Geneva start to suddenly undergo her transformation. He was quite literally jawdropped, and nearly even completely forgetting the fact that there was a titanic earthquake for a mere moment.

Before he knew it, the shaking stopped. He felt uneasy as he slowly lifted his head up, glad to see that no one was really harmed, but he was still rather shaken up from the earthquake. "Is...is it over?" he asked, the fear and uneasiness relatively clear in his voice. As if he jinxed everyone, the large pulse of light struck through.

Hiss took a deep breath, he had to interact with someone, somehow... His eyes shifted around the room. There were so many different monsters around here. He wanted to get rid of this horrid anxiety he felt inside of him. He knew that he'd have to do that one way or another. Different thoughts of others making fun of him started to flicker in his mind, thoughts that he tried his hardest to push away. He decided to slither over towards Sakura Claw. "Um....h-hey...sweet party, right?" He said to her. God, he was horrible at starting conversations. In fact, he hasn't really struck up a conversation before, let alone talked to people very often. Still, he was Determined to try and get rid of this anxiety.

Hiss wasn't expecting to see such a large crowd appear so quickly. His eyes definitely have widened in surprise when he saw the giant piano crash through the wall. He was even more surprised to see the king of the underground and mettaton appear of all monsters. He didn't really expect this party to get so viral so fast. His long body started to turn from it's blood red color into a nearly invisible transparent hue. That being said; he was surprised no one has really accidentally tripped over him yet, especially with the amount of monsters here. His eyes shifted around the crowd, trying to see which monsters he could recognize. Well, not many monsters really knew about Hiss, but he knew about many of the monsters here.

He always tended to sneak around in the background, watching and sometimes even stalking other monsters. Mostly he did so out of curiosity. Just to see how others usually spent their time, in all honesty. He didn't know much about the monsters in Snowdin, as he tended to stay out of that part of the underground. He was rather surprised to see the amount of spiders enter the party as well. Hiss pondered whether or not he should strike up a conversation with another monster in the party, but decided that it would be best to just continue observing the other monsters for now.
