An old voice she hadn't heard since her father had worked in the core had been hissing into her ear through the phone, spouting out nasty words about her father's past and the actual monster he was. "You know what, I'm ending this here, Gatsby. You can go and eat a hotcat.". She was completely ticked off that her dad's closest friend would confront her through the phone like that. She sighed, hanging up after blocking his number from being able to contact her, hoping it would hold him off for a while. She hadn't gone far, so she turned around and walked back to Grillby's. She opened the door and smelled the woodsy scent again. It was empty besides one other face, someone new that she hadn't met before. "Hey, uh.. Sorry about that Grillby.. It was a false alarm. I didn't mess anything up, did I? I probably did... Ughh... I'll make it up Grillby." She said with a stressed look upon her face, her light teal locks curling softly against her beanie. She felt heat in her eyesockets, trying to suck the tears back in so she wouldn't seem like she was trying to get pity.

She waited as she watched Grillby preparing to close up, hoping that she didn't make him waste an order of food. She would feel horrible if she had, a heavy feeling filling her stomach, the gross, fluttery feeling of guilt approaching. She sat down on her usual bar stool, placing her skeletal phalanges against her temples and forehead, letting out a breath of stale air. Thankfully, Grillby was a monster she felt comfortable around, despite her inactivity in the small town.

Linny looked at the ground with a persistent frown, feeling as though she abandoned Grillby. All that she could think about was the steadily growing irritation that she was building up towards her friend. How could they have called her at that time and not after she had finished eating Grillby's glorius burgers.. She hoped that her friend was being serious, otherwise she was going to be getting an uncomfortable bony beating. Not too long after her second attempt at calling her friends phone number while she shuffled through town, she tried remembering where her friend said they were. "Espresso Or Shelf" was what came to mind, but she had a feeling that was not what she was told.

She continued down the path between the shops and homes and came across what she believed was the designated building that her friend told her to stop at. "Espresso Yourself.. OH! Okay, I knew that wasn't what I really heard." She said with a hint of a smile before it went back down while she clutched her ribcage. Her imaginary stomach gurgled angrily, the smell of food from Grillby's had made her more hungry than she was previously, and since she was pulled from her meal, she couldn't get the satisfactory feeling of being full. She groaned out loud as she walked towards the door, quickening her pace. She creaked the door open, peeking inside to see who was there. She walked in through the doorway, feeling more confidence as she noticed a small handful of monsters she had already met eating and conversating. She walked up to the counter and gave a weak grin that permeated with guilt before she looked up towards the menu.

She tapped a phalange on her lower jaw with indecisiveness, trying to come up with a good, filling choice that would tide her over. She looked around and saw that a few of the patrons had a tall and very full-looking sandwich on their plates, so she opted for what she thought that was called on the menu. "I think I'll go with a club sandwich and a... Caramel Mocha?" She said as she looked at the cafe's drink menu. Coffee wasn't new to her, it was her daily wake-up remedy. She hasn't ever been here because she normally ate at Grillby's or the shop next to the motel... But she was always one to try new things and she was staving- practically skin and bones!

Linny groaned inwardly as she felt her phone vibrate one more time with a ringtone following suite. "WHAT DO YOU WANT- oh..
Sorry bout that... Yeah, I'm heading over.."
Linny almost cried as she started grabbing her belongings and placed her hand on the bar longingly, hesitant to leave. "Yo, Grillby! I'm heading out, there's a family emergency.." She said to the elemental, knowing that even though it was just a friend, they were all the family she had left. She left a pile of 75G on the bar surface with a smiley face drawn on a napkin next to it. She was already gone and heading farther into town.

Linny grinned as she politely waved at a few of the other patrons who had said their "hello's" before she intently averted her attention back to the flame elemental. "Eh... I've been as good as I could be, living in the middle of the woods. Thankfully it's not a long distance to a quality restaurant." She said as she emphasized her compliment with a playful wink. She smiled as she glanced at the alcohol menu and scanned for options.

She found her choice, smiling softly before she inhaled, smelling the woodsy, smoky scent that permeated the bar. "Sure, Grillby.. I'll have the signature burger and... Uhh... Surprise me with anything, drink-wise.." She said with a lazy smile, knowing that he had monster alcohols that could knock someone out for up to 3 days. She had confidence that he wouldn't serve whatever that drink was to her, mostly because of his gentlemanly demeanor. She was practically vibrating with excitement and hunger, her bones softly rattling together, making an aesthetically pleasing noise that could make anyone fall asleep.

Her eyelights quickly darted from booth to table to booth, observing the customers silently and subtly before she sneakily wiped a finger over the freshly cleaned bar surface and rubbing it on the inside of her hood. She knew it was odd, but she knew this was the only place in Snowdin that produced the glorious woody aroma that she favored, allowing her to calm down and relax in. So she wasn't bothered by the possibility of someone calling her out for being weird because, quite frankly, she already knew she was.

Linny was walking on her way through the woods, sighing softly and watching a breath of fog dissipate into the air. She continued to trek over twigs and branches that had fallen from the weight of the snow, until she made it to the path that led to the sentry stand. "Well... Off to Grillby's." She said to herself, smiling excitedly as she thought about the signature burgers that the flame elemental crafted with ease.

She followed the beaten, snow-covered path and soon found herself walking past the "Welcome to Snowdin" sign. She paused, looking at the scenery around her, smiling as she noticed a new business. "Espresso Yourself, eh? That's awesome!" She exclaimed, again, to herself, before she eagerly walked into Grillby's establishment and sat herself in her normal seat at the bar. "Heya, Grillby! How's it going?" She asked the monster behind the bar as she took her fur-lined hood off of her head, revealing her head of light blue hair that seemed to be formed with magic.

Linny was casually sitting on her front porch in the snow, inhaling the crisp air of the pine forest around her home. A soft yellow glow warmed her from her candle-lit lanterns, allowing the porch to be illuminated, contrasting from the dark grey undertones of the woods. She had made herself a batch of monster-grown coffee, and was glad to find that it stayed warm for longer than normal. 'Must be a hybrid..' She thought calmly to herself as she sipped on the creamy, bitter liquid. She closed her sockets and thought about her lack of social interaction, cutting herself down and acting like it was her own fault that she hadn't emerged from her deeply set cabin for the 10 years.

She had a blank smile on her face as she looked at the half full contents of her coffee mug, bright cerulean tears welling up in her hollow eyes, her eye lights wavering in and out of existence like a radio station's signal on a cloudy day. She couldn't blame her dead parents for something that she could have controlled if she had wanted to, but she always resorted to the stupid blame game. She was crying silently, tears streaming down her ivory white jaw, the smile that she had on earlier faded into a frown. She was mumbling apologies to her parents as she saw a orange-almost-scarlet glow through the trees and recognized it as the flaming elemental bartender. She stopped sobbing internally to ask herself why Grillby would be so deep into the woods, but she knew that he could get lost if he was aimlessly running. Deciding against her better judgment, Linny used her energy to disappear out of existence only to jump into reality at a sprint to catch up to the man made of fire. "Grillb... Grillby... Wait up- Wait... wait up.." She said, choking on her own tears as she was running after the elemental, noticing that she was hearing some crying that wasn't her own. "Wh-what happened, Grillby?" She asked, genuinely concerned for her friend, her own tears leaving lightly colored streaks down her face.

Linny was walking through Snowdin again, feeling comfortable to show her face in town after all of the years she'd been isolated and wanted to go to Grillby's. She noticed the warm lighting and heard a murmur of commotion within the establishment and smiled brightly before she walked inside. "Meka? Is that you? Oh! Oh my gosh, happy birthday! Sorry that it's been a while.." She admitted sheepishly, not liking the fact about her absence. She looked at the three others and her family with her contagious grin that the inhabitants of Snowdin had grown to love and waved at each of them. While she was waving, she noticed the younger skeleton. "Oh! Hey there.. I- I mean, my name's Lucida Calligraph, but you can call me Linny.. It's really nice to see another skeleton besides the brothers here in Snowdin, if I'm being honest." She said with a smirk, her bright eyelights sparkling like iridescent quartz when she looked her over.

She pulled a trinket out of her coat pocket- a tiny and very detailed sculptured pendant of a monster soul with roses and lilies covering half of it with a chain, giving it to Meka. "I-I know it's really small, but I used my own magic to make it.. It's made of bone and the lilies are made of opal and the roses are ruby.. It took a while to design how it was going to end up looking when it was done, but I was going to give it to you anyway for helping me back at Ms. Trinity's when I got kicked out." She explained, her nervous stutter coming back as she handed the goat monster the fragile piece of jewelry.

Linny walked out of the bar to see Meka leaving towards Waterfall, curiousity got the better of her as she decided to follow her discreetly. Every hundred feet was another blip in and out of exsistence, teleporting to travel. When she arrived, she watched Meka train herself against a tree before a large, red dragoness approached her. The dragon then showed her a scroll before a pastel adorned fox monster appeared, coming into the conversation. "Oh! Hi there.. Meka, right? What are you guys doing out here?" Linny asked softly, her eyelights scanning the area for any evidence as to what they were talking about. She sighed, her bones letting out a stifled clatter as they settled into place. She shuddered uncomfortably from the sudden heat from the light cascading in from the hole broken through on the ceiling of the Underground, watching the plants growing rapidly. Her phalanges nervously flittered and fidgeted through her light blue wig as she looked subtly over the dragoness and the fox.

She gratefully accepted the suggestion of the cheesy fries and milkshake and watched him disappear into the kitchen. When he came back, her eyelights brightened at the sight of the steaming, gooey fries and the almost glistening milkshake. "Grillby, thank you so much!" She exclaimed as she watched his flaming hand place the food in front of her. She was awestruck to find that the milkshake hadn't melted even though he was made of fire and holding the glass. She took a sip and was speechless about the taste. It was so amazing- she couldn't think of enough adjectives to describe how sickeningly delicious and heavenly the dessert was. Her eyelights had formed into the shapes of cartoon hearts as she began to chomp down the fries that the elemental chef had made for her.

As for the conversation...

"Well.. I don't really get out much.. At all. I was confused on how I even received the invitational letter in the first place, and it worried me that someone knew where I lived.. but that's beside the point. But anyways, I live way into the Snowdin Forest, so sometimes coming into town is a hassle so I normally limit myself to going to the shop and buying some stuff to go on through a week," She paused, wondering if she should really tell him her life story or not. She decided against it and told herself to tell him later, in more private conditions.

"So when I made it to Lady Trinity's mansion, the guard in green was outside talking with Dr. Alphys, I walked up to ask if I was at the right place and he just tensed... I didn't know either of them.. still don't know who the guard was. Anyway, I walked inside and pretty much had a panic attack on the inside with all of the people in there.. It was a bit much to jump into after 19 years of solitude." She paused again, waiting a few minutes before starting up again for him to process what she was spouting off. "And in my blatant idiocy, I forgot to speak with Lady Trinity because of said panic attack and Green Giant came up behind me, twisted my arm uncomfortably behind my back. You probably remember what happened from there.." She sighed as she ran her phalanges through her blue wig before she grabbed a few cheesy fries and shoved them into her mouth.

Linny shrugged as she went back to the bar to sit on a stool since Dr. Gaster hadn't replied. Oh well.. She smiled at the flame elemental when he called her name, catching her attention that had been focused on her thoughts. "Hi Grillby! I'm back again. I`m feeling alright, thank you for asking. Haruno healed my arm and gave me a little boost of magic.. And I'll have..." She paused as she scanned the menu for anything she could eat or drink, since her non-exsistent stomach was making hungry gurgles. She did feel a bit parched because of the sudden burst of warmth the crack in the ceiling of the Underground.

She gave him a grin that could've brightened the room- had he not been made of fire, but frowned at the occasional puddle on the floor. She had noticed that others were cleaning the mess of water, but regarding his safety, she was slightly concerned. She continued her words as she looked at the menu in front of her"Oh.. I`ll have.. I don't know. Surprise me, Grillby." She said with a soft smile on her jaw. "How are you doing with the water everywhere? You look kind of fizzled out." She said with a smaller smile, a genuine look of concern glazed over her eye-lights. She gave him a raised brow ridge as she looked at the bartender.

Linny slowed her walk to a halt as she passed by the front entrance door to Grillby's on her way back home fro Lady Trinity's. She sighed and scanned the area around her, catching a lost breath before she turned into the doorway and inhaled the crisp, and strangely fresh air. She opened the door to the bar and put on a grin, despite the feelings of guilt from what had happened earlier. She sighed, seeing most of the guests from the party and a few new characters, smiling at all of them, hoping they wouldn't see through her façade. She sat down on one of the far bar stools and stared solemnly at the counter in front of her as her eyelights dimmed slightly. She perked up as she heard Dr. Gaster, Grillby and Haruno's voices, but shook the feeling as the nagging voice in her head told her that the three were probably too busy to speak to her anyway. She shut the nasty whispering out and hopped off of the stool to approach Dr. Gaster once again.

"Hi, Dr. Gaster.. I guess I`m back. I guess there's only one idiot that could get kicked out of a project.. heh.. that's me." She spoke up, wiggling her bony phalanges in a wave as she stopped right next to the taller skeleton. She didn't want to intrude on the conversation, so she tuned out the wingding translations so that she wasn't hearing what he had said. It came naturally to her to speak and hear wingdings, but she was able to control when she could or couldn't speak or hear the language.. it's similar to when young monsters tune their parents out when being asked to do chores. Anyway, She stood there and put on another masked smile, looking over and noticing another skeleton. She blinked her sockets as her turquoise hair fell into her view, tilting her head in confusion. How any skeletons were actually in the underground?!

She looked the opposite way and noticed Haruno and Grillby, along with Meka and another goat-like monster woman. She blinked a few times and remembered that it was the previous queen that had lived in the ruins for a while.. What was her name again? Toni? Telly? Tori.. Linny remembered a nickname of Tori that was used a few times at the door, but she was sure it was longer than that. Oh well.. The shorter skeleton with the pink slippers was busy talking to her, so she figured it'd be best if she left the two alone. She could talk to Grillby again, but she wanted to have a conversation with Gaster if he wanted to talk with her as well.

13
She shook her head and blinked, listening to what she had said. "I-I'm sorry.. It feels a lot better, Haruno. Right now it feels like someone is barely pressing a finger on the surface, but it's going to be a little bit sensitive anyway.. I just kinda.. spaced out there." She said as she gave the tall monochromatic woman a small smile, a worried crease above her brow ridge appeared as she looked at Haruno again. "You wanna go to Grillby's Restobar he mentioned? I've heard good things about the food." She asked the healer as she took her time to get up off of her butt and back on her feet again. Good thing that she's a skeleton.. The cold just goes right through her.

14
She listened intently to Grillby and smiled, yet when Link had piped up, she winced. She felt like someone had picked up a rock and shattered her ribcage. Not being able to handle the racism and not understanding how there were skeletons on the surface, she decided to speak up. "Look.. uhh.. Guard. I know you might hate me for being a skeleton, but you're trapped down here too. You did fall into the mountain, right? That wasn't the greatest thing that happened, but at least you're safe down here. It could be way worse.. You could've died from the fall. I think..". She paused as she thought about what he had really said. If she wasn't convinced that he was racist before, she was now. It caused her eyelights to brighten and her soul to glow slightly, making a rhythmic thud as it was beating in her ribcage.

"But I feel that it was uncalled for to say that. We're all stuck here because of humans. It's a sensitive subject to mostly all monsters, especially the ones that were in the Great War. And two of them are here." She ranted in a feathered tone, completely forgetting about the pain her forearm was causing her. With every word said and point made, her soul started to glow a light blue around the edges of the shape. Her soul was still the classic, color-less white, but every now and then, it would have a soft glow of turquoise, reflecting the color of the magic she produced.

15
She wiped a smaller tear away, feeling awful for being slightly over-dramatic. She deserved to get thrown out.. She was as insignificant as a piece of grass. She looked up again at the two monsters who had left the party to ask her if she was alright and smiled tiredly at the two of them. But not too long after, she felt a comforting warmth behind her and turned her cranium to see the monster who was radiating the heat. She smiled up at the flame elemental, her soul feeling like it was receiving a hug from the other three. "I-I'm okay.. I just have a hairline fracture. Nothing that healing magic won't help. Thank you for asking me though." She explained with a pained smile on her maw.

She felt confused and elated that all of this was happening, yet she didn't quite know why. She guessed it was why she decided to come to this get-together in the first place... others may call it luck, but Linny had called it fate. She looked around at the monsters again, smiling softly to herself as her eyelights grew brighter. She felt as though she has made herself a new group of friends.
