Snowdin / Re: Night-watch
« on: February 01, 2019, 07:33:41 am »
The stout monster shuffled his way through the chilling snow at a leisurely pace; hands in pockets and head tilted back slightly in a relaxed fashion. Once he was within talking-range he slipped his left hand out and motioned a lazy wave, "'Sup Lupina?" he greeted with a mild chuckle. Her genuine eagerness and cheerful demeanour had always been a welcoming sight for as long as Sans could remember, and this time was no exception.

The skeleton gave a guilty shrug, "Sorry about that. Losing track of time has been a habit I've developed recently." he apologised and omce he was beside her they had started the usual route of patrol. Ordinarily he'd much rather stay at his post and avoid any unneeded exercise, but on nights like these he could make the exception when with company.

Sans was about to bring up some conversation with the fellow canine when something had caught his attention and by contrast with his movements earlier, his skull snapped towards the direction of what presumably was the snapping of a branch and the utterance of someone.
'That's different.' he thought to himself.

He was very good at his job after all, despite what many might have assumed.

"Hey." he called out to the monster before casting Lupina a wary side-glance of caution and then continued, "Everything okay there?"

A fpggy breath exhaled through the teeth of the ever-smiling skeleton on this cool night in Snowdin. The stout monster shuffled leisurely  through the snow, and as always, with his hands in his pockets.

Soon enough, he was within view of the canine sentry, to which he gave a lazy wave of a greeting and spoke up once he was within earshot. He was late, but thankfully not late , "'Sup?" Sans drawled out casually, "Been a while since I last went on patrol, so it's nice to have some company. Ready to go?"

Just like before hearing her laughter was a delight for Sans, if not leaving him to want to hear more.
“Cheers, Tori.” he said nonchalantly as the skeleton shuffled his way in with a casual smile. His left hand buried its way back into his pocket and the other continued to balance the cardboard box so as to not drop it and spill its contents. While the skeleton was used to the frosty climate of Snowdinhe was still willing to humor the offer, “Yeah it was a little chilly. A drink sounds nice, what do you have?” he asked before setting down the box onto the table and opened its top. Maybe even a slight tint of blue surfaced on his cheek bones when she mentioned that she was happy to see him again, “Always cool to see you too Tori. And, uh, I just wanted to drop by and check in on you after – well, everything. To make sure that you’re okay?”

The skeleton hen stepped aside to reveal that inside the box was a pie – Snails Pie to be exact. Unfortunately it wasn’t the prettiest-looking pie either, it was lopsided, burnt spots here and there and the decorative snail shells were either half-sunken-in on the crusty surface or half falling out, “I even had a go at making your favourite pie. It’s nowhere near as good as your pies but I thought to save you the trouble.” he then noticed the splash of white on his sleeve and quickly dusted it off with a bony hand, “Went a little crazy with the flour though. Heh.”

Delighted to that she was home, Sans' smile grew a little wider; as did his soul beat a little faster, despite maintaining a cool and calm demeanour. He couldn't stop the chuckle from escaping his teeth when he heard her reply.
'So. This is a thing now? Telling jokes through doors? Heh. This rules.' he thought to himself.

As articulate as ever when entertaining others, the skeleton followed through with coming uo with an answer on the fly.
"Adore." he said casually, maybe even with a slight trace of affection to the word. Sans waited for the predictable answer before following through, "Adore is in between us. Can I come in?"

He really couldn't even stop himself from snickering at his own joke either while he waited patiently, "Hehehehehehehehehehheh."

Ruins / If The Door Is Locked, Try The Window [Sans and Toriel]
« on: December 16, 2018, 08:49:02 am »
In Character Date & Time: 14th November UUY 1

The day after June and Austin had left, around mid-afternoon, a certain stout monster had decided to visit the former queen in the Ruins. Having been here at least once before, he was able to take one of his 'Shortcuts' and appeared just beside the tree in front of her home. The skeleton was smiling as always, however he did feel his soul beat a little faster than usual as he looked at the home with both anticipation and excitement. In his hand was flat, medium-sized cardboard box and it balanced rather gracefully atop of his right, bony hand. There was a bit of flour splashed on one of the blue sleeves of his jacket and he had chosen to wear a white pair of fluffy slippers today too.

Soon enough Sans shuffled on towards the front door - despite it being at a leisurely pace his soul continued to race as he got closer. He then raised a left hand and rattled it twice against the wooden entryway, "Knock. Knock."

WHAT IF?! / Re: A Dork Gathering
« on: March 21, 2018, 03:05:57 pm »
Sans, whom had been getting ready in his room at a leisurely pace suddenly appeared on his usual side of the couch with his hands resting behind his skull and foot resting over the opposite knee. A purple gift bag accompanied beside the elder; its contents could be easily seen if one were to look into it thanks to his minimalistic efforts in wrapping the simple yet thoughtful gift. He was wearing his usual clothing, except his jacket seemed to be a slightly deeper blue than usual - possibly a new one but of the same design.

"Cool. Let's go." he grinned after Papyrus showed up.

With that the brothers had disappeared from the confines of their home in an instant.

Mere seconds after Riverperson had arrived, she and Zarc's sibling would find themselves suddenly greeted by two more monsters appearing seemingly out of thin air. When their feet had touched the snow once again, the shorter of the two announced, "What do you get when two skeletons decide to join a party?" he asked casually before stretching his grin further, "One hell of a good party, that's what."

In his hand his gift hung casually from his phalanges, which swayed slightly as Sans gave a lazy wave at the pair, "'Sup? Who else are we meeting up with here?"

Everywhere Else / Part III: Speed Dial
« on: November 25, 2017, 01:05:10 am »

*(Ring, ring…)
*You hear a loud yawn answer your call. He sounded like he just got up.
*You also hear glass and metal clink distantly in the background, along with the odd sloshing sound. Someone else in the kitchen perhaps?

*Auuh-whu? Hey. This is Sans…

*You hear a pause.
*Then you hear a soft chuckle.

*Wow, so we’re doing this thing again huh? It’s cool. I hope you weren’t expecting me to call you again and leave a message. That would be weird, wouldn’t it?

*Another voice raised distantly, distinctly tenor.

*Who’re you talking to, Sans?
*Oh, you know. No body.
*Is it that mysterious monster? They should stop messing with people. It’s rude.
*It’s cool bro, they aren’t hurting anybody.

*There was a distant “nyeh” of disagreement.
*You then asked about what happened after the incident.

*Ah, you’re really on point about what’s been going on these days huh? Whelp, I s’pose I may as well tell ya what happened after.
*...It’s kinda funny. I would have thought if you knew this much already that you’d also know what happened after.
*So. Anyway. After my party was a complete bust and everyone headed to Hotland we all managed to get out alive. Some more bruised and beaten than others.
*Even my spaghetti survived the earthshakes of deadly terror!
*That night kinda gave us a lot to think about afterwards. I’m pretty sure that it’s changed how some monsters see the world in a completely different way now.
*Which, if I’m honest, it was a pleasant surprise for once.
*So, let’s start with what arguably would have been the biggest deal. Junie Callahan. The human soul who made a lot of us question what Justice really was.
*The revelations of the truth behind the fame and glory of capturing humans from that night changed how some monsters would view life completely. Developed their own sense of Justice. Of course, there were some who knew all along, but none of them - I don’t think - were proud of their accomplishments and continued to live in the glorified views of the public. Most likely for their sanity and to keep monsters happy enough so that they won’t lose hope.
*I’m starting to wonder how quickly word would spread… or if it’ll be kept to on the down-low about what happened… I somehow think that the sudden change of plans may not agree with a lot of monsters. Since, after all, a lot of the public seem to adore the king and his plan… time will tell I suppose.
*I don’t think Asgore, Undyne, the rest of the Guard nor anyone associated with the politics regarding human souls would be in a hurry to make any public announcements about major changes. As far as most of us concerned, we’re still on the lookout for humans and we still need just one more. News of having one less human soul would possibly lead to panic or some sort of uproar, I’m sure.
*Was it right to sacrifice a few to benefit many?
*Or were we no better than the humans who’ve slain monsters?
*Can we find another way with just five, or maybe none of the souls? Eh, probably.
*There’s certainly a difference between the sacrifice of those who choose to do so and those who had no choice.
*I hope that the lessons of the night stick with our monarch and at least make him reflect on how wise continuing to follow this old path would be. There are surely other, better paths we could be taking from here.
*That’s true, phalanges crossed, right?
*Indeed. All of them.
*So, Junie and her brother’s-mind-in-a-robot, along with the other robotic avians were all escorted by my brother to the barrier. Haven’t seen nor received word beyond what Papyrus had told me, so, I’m guessing that they crossed the barrier okay. The only traces of J.O.H.N. remaining at the Core were any extra parts used to upgrade an E.D. Unit and a couple of the canisters which formed that temporary barrier.
*Some humans sure seem to like trapping monsters, huh?
*Safe to say, the king went home to think over his actions and how others think of him now that we know the truth. Not entirely sure what it was, but he seemed to have gone through a bit of an odd phase there that weren’t so… fluffy. Maybe it was because of the guilt he carried from taking those human souls? Hell if I know.
*Not all is bad for the old Fluffybuns though, at least he’s able to go home with his son rather than just be a shell of what he had used to be.
*With any luck, maybe, just maybe the kid won’t turn out so bad. They have a lot of catching up to do. If the kid really is being genuine about changing for the better, I got a feeling that he’s got got a lot of princely duties to attend to.

*   You noticed Sans had stopped speaking for a moment.

*

*   You ask if he was alright.

*Hm? Wuh? Yeah, totally fine.

*   You wonder if he is lying.

*I just don’t know how to feel about Asriel being back. I mean, great he didn’t act like a Megalomaniac and was genuinely trying to help monsters...
*But I’m pretty convinced that there’s still some of ‘Flowey’ in him.
*He better not cross any lines because he’s going to regret leaving that cell.
*I will be keeping a close eye socket on him.
*You and me both, brother.
*I also kinda feel bad for Undyne. She was just doing her job and everything she knew and was taught had turned completely upside-down for her. I don’t think she’s used to facing a crowd of monsters whom were so against the king’s actions before either.
*Maybe she’s just used to the whole being praised as the Heroine of the Underground or something. I dunno.
*Either way, I’m not entirely sure about much that has happened with her since she left the Core. I do know that she has plans to discuss with Asgore at some point - kinda obvious now that the king is reconsidering the idea about collecting human souls, possibly.
*I gotta stop by to thank her for saving my life though. See how she’s doing.
*I think she’d like the company. Maybe we could invite her over for dinner instead? Easier on everyone. I could make tacos if it’s Tuesday!
*Dude, that sounds great. We will have to ‘taco’ ‘bout what ingredients to buy for those nights.
*So while the events were happening at the Core, Undyne had ordered the rest of the Guard Body to spread out throughout the Underground and ensure that the citizens were safely evacuated to a safe place which were least affected by the quakes and power outage. Turns out such a huge task went ahead rather smoothly; with minor incidents here and there. Monsters were able to be escorted back home safely and homes which had been damaged by the quakes were given the aid they needed until they’re able to return to the same routine of everyday life again.
*The Guards, however, will be going under a strict re-evaluation. Undyne didn’t take having not only her security breach very well, but also a human soul had escaped as a result of it. I’ve heard that she’s about to put the lot of them through the wringer and kick out anyone who didn’t meet the heightened requirements.

*   You hear a soft chuckle.

*Man, if they thought Undyne was bad, I feel sorry for whoever has to be re-evaluated by the newly promoted Executive Officer of the Royal Guard…
*I’ve heard that guy takes his job pretty seriously.
*I heard that those guards are more mechanically threaded than even my most complicated puzzles, brother. Perhaps I should feel sorry for them too?
*Heh, nah.

*   You noticed a slight change of tone in Sans’ voice; sounding subtly lighter and happier.

*Seeing Tori lash out at Asgore like that was really something. I mean, wow, did I learn not to make her angry. Heh, even so, I’m pretty sure that the support for Asriel she and Asgore had been giving really helped push that kid towards the right direction. Pretty sure that her words, added to my brother’s, as also aided in June to be less… trigger-happy.
*Right now though, she’s headed back home to the Ruins, but uh-
* - she’s not exactly going to be feeling alone anymore.
*We’ve been keeping in touch and hanging out more, which is cool. I think she and Papyrus would get along well too once she comes over for visits more often. Might even take him with me to visit her if he’s not busy.
*It’d be wonderful to have her over for dinner soon! She could bring dessert and we could all enjoy a nice relaxing meal without all those interruptions. It’d be a good change of pace after everything.
*That would be really nice. I wonder if she would want to stay the night?
*Perhaps. I’d give up my bed and sleep on the couch for such a noble cause as that if so.
*Speaking of a really cool skeleton, he’s certainly done a lot to prove himself to everyone - in front of Undyne and Asgore no less. I’m really proud of him. It’s always been his dream to get into the Royal Guard, so if this didn’t prove anything on top of the years of working down to the bone and commitment he had I don’t know what will.
*Good thing we don’t have to worry about that though. Especially with that pretty sweet promotion.
*I guess I got pretty lucky, given how everything lined up into such a perfect storm that night.

*   You hear Sans snicker lightly.

*Meeting Zydras was kinda something else. It felt reassuring that there was another scientist in the group. Meant that I could help keep an eye on things on the field while he helped out with the Core and figured out how these robots worked to our favor. Had an interesting chat with him later when we restarted the Core for everyone. Turns out we have quite a bit in common. He said he lives in Snowdin, so I’ll probably be bumping into him again. Might even get to find out what he does for a living.
*Did I mention that one of things we have in common is that he is also Aware? Weird right?
*So about that Mysterious monster. The one offering advice and had telepathic powers. Haven’t heard from him since just after Austin’s personality had been activated within J.O.H.N.
*Not sure what to think of him. Seemed to be okay with me, pissed off Undyne but I’m not sure about the others. From what I had seen, they had been having a discussion of sorts with some of them… he’s also another one who is Aware.
*What were the chances of me meeting two other Awares, huh?
*Kind of a weird feeling having four Awares present at the Core. Might be me being paranoid, but uh, it feels rather concerning that some variable had pulled us together like that. I don’t recall meeting other Awares very well - memory is a little fuzzy on that...
*...but I’m hoping it isn’t some sort of omen for the future.
*Gotta hand it to the guy, Gust’s impulsive decision to scout ahead did save us a few missteps there.
*Maybe even some lives at some point.
*Some of his actions almost cost yours though; I have mixed feelings about that, well intentioned though it may have been.

*A pause and then a sigh.

*I suppose at least he tried, unlike some who volunteered.
*Yeah I think he means well though. A bit selfish at times, but means well nonetheless.
*While losing his magic and powers sucked, he was rather creative in his contributions. Guy runs so fast I think he was one of the ones who left early. Not sure what he’s up to now, but I feel a little bad for his lady-shark-friend. She looked pretty upset when he ran ahead while we were heading to Hotland.
*Cherry, I think, went back to her life as normal - back to that potion shop her mother runs. She has a few things going on in her life at the moment, but I do remember her from the mines and that she was one of the monsters who got the Young Hero's Ribbons of Bravery. Seems like looking out for monsters might be a part of her calling - I wouldn’t be surprised if she showed up to the next event.
*...I’m hoping that there won’t be a next event.
*I gotta admit, I didn’t expect Riverperson to be there, of all places. Normally she would shy away from this sort of thing, but I knew that if it was enough for her to show up, then something pretty big was going down.
*She did say some interesting things at the start, and did help Gust out when we got there; but later on she didn’t say much of anything else. She did seem to know a bit about that stone that somehow helped Asriel regain his former body and for Austin to transfer part of himself into J.O.H.N.
*Kinda makes me wonder how much she actually knows.
*Makes me regret not asking her more when I had the chance the day before.
*It’s okay bro, who knows, maybe we can still find out if we cross paths with her again someday.
*Haruno…

*   You hear a heavy sigh.

*I don’t even want to go there.
*Don’t tempt me, Sans. We’d be here all day and night if I got started.
*If you see her, maybe pass a message on for me.
*“If we’re really friends. You won’t come back.”
*Brother, if she makes the mistake of coming back, you can be assured that I will send her back to her precious darkness for good.
*Geneva, Hiss, Lily and Muffet showed up…
*That was kinda it right?
*They left early, so, I’d imagine that they just went back to doing what they were doing before coming to the party.
*They seem nice though, a little shy but uh, they probably shouldn’t have volunteered.
*It was certainly a waste of resources trying to incorporate them into any plans to get us all out of there in one piece. They really should have high-tailed it out long before that barrier ever went up. I’m sure June would have let them leave, but I suppose it’s neither here nor there now.
*But I will remember their inactions in the future.
*Didn’t see much of the Kitsune who went by the name of Sakura. I remember her from back with the incident in the mines. She wasn’t as involved as last time but at least she kinda helped out.
*If by “see much” you mean I had to put her in timeout because she doesn’t understand proper time, place, or decorum, then yes, we didn’t see much of that Kitsune.
*… Sort of.
*I’m honestly hoping that Undyne has forgotten about that challenge she initiated.
*It’s sorta weird. She used to admire the guard and had expressed interest in joining at some point.
*Guess that’s not gonna be a thing any time soon.
*Not if I have any say about it.

*   A pause.

*Oh, wait, I do now. Huh. How about that?
*After the clash with Undyne, Cobalt headed back to her forge and shut herself in. She refused to let anyone in with the exception of one skeleton. Don’t think she has left the place since.
*After the party, Mettaton didn’t see the need to volunteer and kind of just went back to his schedule of being a star, I guess. Back to the norm.
*Didn’t see much of Alphys. She showed up at the party, which was cool. That’s good for her since I don’t get to see her much outside of her lab these days. Everyone needs a break every once in awhile.
*After the first quakes happened and monsters were evacuated from the hall, I’m pretty sure that Alphys headed back to her lab. Yanno, to make sure all her equipment was still running fine.
*I hope she managed okay during the complete black out though.

*So, overall, like the last catastrophe, most monsters were thankfully able to return to their lives like normal after what had transpired at the Core. Ironically, even after the conflict between allies, it has somehow managed to bring us closer together.
*Having two major events such as these which had happened so close together - both of which did put lives on the line…
*...It really puts into perspective how short life can be.
*
*
*Whelp, I better get a move on. Got some things to do and monsters to see.
*Take care of yourself, okay? Never know what else this timeline could bring.

*...
*Click.
*You then move put the phone away after realising the call had ended.

*However, it began to ring again. Did Sans forget to say something?
*...
*No, it was somebody else.

*Hello. I don't believe we have spoken before. At least not by your perspective.

*You ask this person who they are.

*Well, who do you think I am, then?

*You try to question them again, but they keep talking.

*I don't suppose it matters.
*Listen, I don't have much time to explain.

* ...

*... As much as some would want it to be; this isn't the end.
*What may come will not be as it seems.

* ...

*Trust the dark. Beware the light.
*Stay alive. Stay Determined.
*Hopefully; you won't hear from me again.

*Click.
*After a moment of confusion, you put the phone away properly this time, and yet...
*A thought still lingered. Just what was that about?

"Heh, you have a fair point." Sans replied as he followed Zydras shortly behind, "I could go for either tea of cocoa. Fine with both. Though, not now; I'm happy with what I've got."
He chuckled again, "It probably does, maybe I might start calling him GCP for short. See what he thinks."

On their way out Sans spotted River Person; whom was wearing a number of things he certainly recognised on the fly. He also idly took note of the monsters at the table she was with; none of them particularly caught his attention.

His grin stretched wider.

Just as he walked past he called out to her, "Hey River, good to see you. Say hi to Zarc for me. Guy owes me 20g too, heheheheheh." he chuckled.

Fia's eyes lit up when the skeleton walked past, "Sansy!"
"Hey Fia."
"Hope you're well! Oh! And your order should come in on Monday! I checked!"
"Awesome," he replied casually before his grin and voice, oddly enough, grew to look and sound rather untrustworthy, "no one will be safe."

With that the skeleton walked out, waving a quick farewell to Lesser Dog before he exited the cafe.

The skeleton's chest puffed out lightly with pride. "Thanks 'n' I'm sure he will and I'll pass on the message," he replied to Haldor.

His attention then turned to Zydras, "It is so."

Sans then shrugged when he declined his offer to pay for himself. "Whelp, if you insist," he then chuckled. "Yeah, I can believe that; a lot of the time it feels ironic... yeah, some party. Don't think I'll have another one of those any time soon, heh. If I'm honest, not sure I would find that boring, but I'll be sure to hit you up if it's needed."

He then winced very mildly at the thought of drinking coffee. "Still not my 'cup of coffee' but yanno, glad to see it's pretty good. Thanks again, by the way."

When he accepted the order he replied to the employee with a wink. "Thanks, you have a nice day too. Maybe 'Serif' is better. Sir is a bit too formal for my tastes, heh," he commented lightheartedly before snickering, "I'm just joking, have a good one."

Sans turned again to face the guard, leaning to the side against the counter casually with his hands in his pockets. If he was honest, he was mildly concerned that a member of the guard wasn't seemingly aware of the events which had just transpired; but, it's only the morning after so, maybe she didn't get to hear about all of it yet. "I dunno L.D., guess you're gonna find out about all of that soon enough," he commented. Of course he knew the details, but he wasn't about to spill them here in public. The skeleton then winked. "You could say that."

As always Sans' smile remained permanently plastered on his face, but being able to tell when it's genuine or not was often quite the challenge. Those whom he's particularly close to, however, were often able to pick up when any shadows cast or how curves coiled were lying. This time however, he maintained his genuine smile upon the mention of Papyrus.
"He's doing great. Working really 'down to the bone'." he winked, "Did you hear? Papyrus also got accepted into the Royal Guard by Undyne herself last night. Something he's always wanted. I'm proud of him. 'N' I'll also take a tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich for me. To go."

The skeleton found himself laughing lightly with the fire elemental, not only finding his own jokes funny but also hearing someone else laughing was rather contagious. When he offered to pay for Sans, the Sentry lightly raised a hand in protest, "Woah there. Did you just mutate for a stop codon? 'Because you're talking nonsense.' It's cool dude, you don't have to pay for me."
'I don't wanna feel like I have to owe ya.' he thought.

He then side-stepped along with Zydras to continue their conversation. He chuckled again, "I kept telling the universe, 'hey, being incidental is my thing'." Sans shrugged, "Sounds cool but I'm pretty beat. Didn't get much sleep in last night. Managed to power nap at best, really. Later down the track sounds nice though."

Sans' smile was as genuine as he was tired and nodded at Haldor, "Yep, for Papyrus alright. 'N' yeah I'll buy two bags of whatever he usually likes then, and uh, throw in a third one of a different blend just to add variety. Whatever you reccomend will be great."

Soon a familiar a voice sounded behind him, prompting the skeleton to turn around fully before snorting out a giggle, "Oh no. Please. Last thing I need is to think jokes about time are funny." he snickered, "Fancy bumping into you here. At least you're not a 'naked flame' today. You know what I heard? A photon checks into Snowdin Inn, right? Then they're asked if they need any help with their luggage but then they said, 'No, I'm traveling light.'."

He then noticed that he was greeted by one of the guards and he waved back at Lesser Dog with a lazy shake of his hand.
