Some time had passed and soon the bar was relatively empty. Not that Grillby minded any but the fact that no one had wanted the free meal both puzzled and surprised him. He never had any lack of faith towards his patrons but they all wanted to pay for their own meals. Was it a means of independence or something else he just wasn't sure but it was heart-warming.  After polishing the wood, and re-cleaning all of the glasses Grillby began to clean up the kitchen, wiping down the stove, cleaning the frying pans and such. Anything to keep his establishment clean and welcoming.

Finally h had done everything but take the free food out of the warmer. It seemed he would have to throw it away after all. There was no way anyone would want reheated food from the day before. Grillby wasn't even comfortable preparing something like that for someone. He liked to give his patrons fresh meals and this one here...wasn't going to be fresh tomorrow.  Before taking it out he walked around the bar counter to go and turn the OPEN sign. It was time to close up soon anyway.

Grillby offered a warm smile with a nod of his flaming head. "You've got it." The man headed into the back to warm up those fryers.  He made sure the settings were on low so he could move away and head back to the front of the bar. Making drinks and food came naturally with all the years of training he had under him. It only took about 5 minutes for everything to come together but before he could put the plate down Linny's phone had vibrated and with it she looked to be a bit panicked.

Suddenly she was leaving money for food she hadn't even touched and running out the door. Grillby stared down at the plate.
". . . ." He could not accept this money, so instead he placed it in a glass jar and locked it in one of the bottom drawers so it could at some point, safely be returned to her. Now what to do with the food.... He wasn't particularly hungry and he couldn't let it go to waste.

"This meal is on the house for anyone who wants it."

Grillby was subconsciously cleaning the bar counter as he drifted off into his thoughts. He was snapped out of his little daze as the front entrance to his establishment came open, the bell jingling to further inform him of the new arrival. As they situated themselves and called out to him he gave a mighty grin. "Why hello there Linny. I haven't seen your face in ages. I hope you've been well," he said with a warm tone. A very nice conversation starter if he ever knew one. Swiftly the cloth in his hand vanished now replaced with a spray bottle. The man of fire turned his back to the counter and to the wood of the backer's rack.

All of the glasses had already been moved to the shelf under the counter just for this cleaning session. It was always good to plan ahead. Carefully spraying certain sections in order not to overuse and abuse the product, Grillby made sure his finger lightly tapped the trigger after each spray. Once satisfied with the oiled concotion he began wiping it down with a sponge used specifically for cleaning and shining wood. After a minute or so he was then drying the wood and replacing the glasses back where they belonged.

"Perfect," the man muttered to himself. After doing a complete 360 Grillby looked to Linny. "Can I get you anything?"

In Character Date & Time: 16th November UUY 1, approximately 12 PM

Set alongside Come On In, The Coffee's Hot!

Grillby still had the thought of the other place just a bit away from his own establishment. Espresso Yourself. The name was a fantastic play on words and quite frankly it was quite clever. He shed himself of his coat and placed it on the rack right outside the back door. He wiped his feet on the little mat just in front of the door before walking into the warm establishment. The place was naturally warm thanks to the AC but when Grillby came in...it heated up quite a bit. In his eyes it was a comfortable amount, and most of his customers seemed to stay for quite a while when they did come to stop in. It must've been comfortable.

The flaming man turned the sign around at the window showing a neon sigh that lit up saying 'OPEN' as soon as the switch was flipped. He had only been behind the counter polishing glasses for ten minutes before customers began coming in. He waved to those who said hello and nodded to the shyer more quiet folk that didn't. He didn't consider them rude because he knew how they were and it didn't bother him one bit. Everyone was welcome. Grillby himself didn't talk much unless very excited and those kinds of instances were rare. He mostly nodded and listened and it didn't seem to bother his patrons when he didn't talk either. Today his other workers were off so it would just be him today.  He began taking orders when requested immediately, turning on the stoves and letting the beverage machine turn on. He only offered special sodas for those who didn't like drinking anything alcoholic and his special sodas contained about as much syrup as a dog contained rust...which was to say not much at all. He liked unhealthy things to be as healthy as possible and he never told his patrons but fortunately for him they liked them.

Grillby thanked the rock man with a kind smile of his own then turned to enjoy the interesting beverage brought to him. He carefully brought it to his face, a white line zigzagging across his face to form his mouth. As it opened a little bit of steam spewed from the open mouth made almost completely of flames. There was a visible tongue within that fiery opening that awaited the sweet drink with anticipation. As the warm liquid rolled over his taste buds his fire brightened in delight. It was an interesting taste and most definitely a good one. He took a moment to admire the mug it was brought in. A beautifully simple design yet still commendable.

As soon as the mug was empty and Grillby was satisfied he couldn't help his urge to clean the mug himself. He pulled out his spare rag from his back pocket and breathed in a small heave of air until his left cheek was visibly puffed out. He held it for a moment feeling as each flame type passed over in his mouth until finally the right one came up. The sparkling white flames spewed out of his mouth in a simple outer spray formation. The lot of it rolled over the cup and traveled over it's surfaces. Before he realized it he was cleaning the cup in the same fashion he did his own little establishment. He folded his rag and placed it in the back pocket of his pants. He brought the cup to the counter and set it down thanking Haldor for his services and the wonderful drink then proceeded to make his way out, leaving a sparkling mug behind.

Grillby gave a quite cheerful laugh, rubbing the back of his neck with a slightly embarassed expression. "Oh is that so? Guess it is somewhat like my diner. Sorry for the inconvenience. Heh I have never had anything on this menu before besides the regular latte and today I wanted something with a little tingle." There was a visible flare both in his flames and his words for a brief moment. A small showing of his enthusiasm of trying something new. It was always exciting to try something new.

"It is a pleasure to meet you! The name is Grillby...as you know..." he went somewhat quiet at introducing himself although he was quite well known already. Was it considered polite or snooty? He hoped desperately for the former. The bartender cleared his throat and spoke once more, "I would like the peppermint spice latte." Grillby checked the price on the menu and pulled out the necessary funds from his wallet to hand to the deep voiced male.

Grillby's eyes widened as he stumbled forward, only catching himself at the last possible moment. "Whoa!" He turned around to look at what just pushed him. His whole being had dimmed for that brief moment as he thought that someone had purposely pushed him but it was lesser dog! Definitely an accident. His thoughts came to ring true when the dog apologized. "Oh it's no problem" he assured with a small grin. "Just be careful. I could've been flaming just now. You would've at least gotten a second degree burn." Grillby's smile was replaced as his lips disappeared into his flames at the rambling that seemed to be a question he could only somewhat make out. "The others? I believe they were fine last I checked. Grillby's is closed right now so don't worry they are most likely safe at home." Grillby gave the lesser dog a soft pat on the head and turned back around. "It was nice seeing you LD!" He called from over his shoulder as he walked in the opposite direction.

The fire elemental seated himself a seat away from the groups and politely called the person behind the bar with a warm smile. Quite literally in fact. His white eyes smiling along with him behind his rectangle framed glasses. He looked over the menu and put on a thinking expression. Some of these things he had never heard of. There was a whole variety of things to try. "I can see the appeal here. Let me see which of these concoctions espressos me best." The flaming man burned a bit brighter as he chuckled quietly to himself from the little play on the shops name. It was a fairly decent name for the place too.

"I think that peppermint spice drink might be good...hmm so many options. Absolutely brilliant!" He concluded, his flames crackling like a camp fire at his cheeriness. He ran a finger along the surface and moved his finger from it so he could see it. There was no dirt upon his finger, not even dust. "Marvelous. If there is one thing I am all for.... It. Is. CLEANLINESS." The fire man would tear his Grill-bar in two in order to clean it should it need THAT much attention. However it was only out of fear for his customers. Not to say he wasn't normally a clean person, it was simply the fact that in some turn of events- had he not been as clean as he is...some dirt or horrible fungus could wind up in one of his dishes and sicken one of his patrons. Grillby had a big heart for his customers, and regulars. He only wished to serve them food on clean dishes and give them the cleanest glasses and cups to drink out of. Never anything less. It was his code.

As he sighed in content with the delicate thoughts, a small wisp of flames slipped from his mouth, only a few centimeters away from their origin place but it was still visible even to him. The urges a fire monster like him faced were strange, differing from each kind but he felt that in particular, maybe he praised his monster make-up to much. (A similar saying to chemical make up.) Every time he used his special form of cooking, he would think, into the fire. He was not self-absorbed but he loved himself, and his flames. Fire was a truly beautiful thing in his eyes, and maybe to a few others it was art. Perhaps that's why he had decided to find more ways to use what he loved so much. He found white fire abilities to clean things so well that he'd never use anything else.

There was so much more but he was beginning to get lost in his thoughts with that overly warm smile on his face.

A fluffy white towel ran over the wine glass in a fiery hand. Grillby inhaled, puffing out his cheeks. He closed his mouth and held it like that for a moment before he allowed a small opening between his tightly pressed lips. White flames were sprayed over the glass, cleaning it in Grillby's signature way. The fluffy towel went over it one more time before it was placed on the shelf upside down with the others.

"Phew..." The bartender breathed out with a satisfied grin more on the inside than on the outside. The whole bar was cleaned up and now he could leave off on break. After pulling his jacket and his beanie off the rack he locked the doors to the establishment and prepared to make his way home. As he strolled through the snow, flaring up as he walked to keep the chills away from the snow that tried to seep into his shoes.  He adjusted his glasses on his face while looking about the town. Then he stopped. there was a place that he had never noticed before. The fire man changed direction, walking closer to it. Soon enough he could make out the words. 'Espresso yourself...strange.' He pushed the door open, leaving the cold of Snowdin town behind him.

He noticed a few familiar faces here and there. So was this where his regulars and drifters came when his Grill-bar was closed? He chuckled whole-heartedly to himself. "Not that I mind." He muttered out to himself with raised eyebrows. His amusement in the little things new no bounds.
